Trojan Horse

Malware disguised as legitimate software that tricks users into installing it, giving attackers hidden access to the victim's system.

A trojan horse (or simply "trojan") is malware that disguises itself as useful software — a free app, a document, a game update. Unlike viruses, trojans do not replicate themselves; they rely on tricking users into installing them. Once installed, they can steal banking credentials, record keystrokes, provide remote access to attackers, or download additional malware.

Fake APK Trojans in Malaysia

A major threat in Malaysia involves fake Android APK files distributed via WhatsApp and Telegram — disguised as food delivery apps, cleaning services, or government forms. These trojans steal banking credentials and intercept SMS OTPs. Only install apps from the official Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
