Vishing (Voice Phishing)

A phishing attack conducted over phone calls, where scammers impersonate authority figures to extract money or sensitive information from victims.

Vishing (voice phishing) uses phone calls instead of emails or texts to deceive victims. Attackers often spoof caller IDs to appear as if they are calling from a bank, police station, or government agency. In Malaysia, the most common form is the "Macau scam" — callers impersonate police or bank officials, claim the victim is linked to criminal activity, and pressure them into transferring money to "safe accounts."
